Now that the first 5G iPhones have arrived — the iPhone 12 mini and the iPhone 12 Pro Max are coming next month — attention is shifting to other 5G devices. The Sony Xperia 1 II is now shipping; you can buy it for the princely sum of $1,199. Google is working on a 5G version of its Pixel 5 flagship for the fall, as well as a 5G version of the Pixel 4a, which will cost less than $500.

Speaking of cheaper 5G phones, the Snapdragon 765 chipset is appearing in more devices, lowering the cost of your next-generation handset. The $699 Nokia 8.3, which is now available for pre-order, runs on the Snapdragon 765G, a gaming-centric variant of Qualcomm’s chipset.
TCL has gone even cheaper with the TCL 10 5G UW, a $399 phone that works with Verizon’s 5G network. It’s the cheapest 5G phone we’ve seen to date, though it’s about to get some competition. After its success with the low-cost OnePlus Nord in other parts of the world, One Plus is bringing a version here. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G debuts in the UK and Europe first for £329, but a US version is expected to arrive after that, and it’s expected to have a similarly low price for US shoppers.
